Talking forecast design trends for 2018

Pops of color mixed with natural elements create an inviting space.

This past year saw a resurgence of texture, Scandinavian whites and of course, Millennial pink. So, what’s the color and design forecast for 2018? We looked to FCW and other experts in the industry who collaborated with designers and creative minds to find out exactly what this year’s interior trends will be.

Coming out of a year filled with soft neutrals and whites, designers believe that brighter colors are on the horizon, namely, jewel tones.

“I do feel like jewel tones will make more of an emergence this year with home design,” revealed a local designer. “Colors are getting bolder and more saturated.”

Bold statements for colorful places

This new and bold trend seems to be confirmed by Pantone’s 2018 Color of the Year, ultraviolet. This color is bright, sassy and similar to the jewel-tone amethyst.

Designer Chad James agrees with the trend for more saturated color, such as deep, bold blues. “People are shifting towards a richer color palette. The rich colors trend began in 2017 and will continue into 2018, but in a bigger way.”
