Find the right profile:

T Molding or Bar   T Molding or T Bar:

T-moldings are commonly used in doorways to join two laminate floors in adjoining rooms.  They are also recommended when making a transition from two floor products that are the same height.

Reducer

Reducer:

Reducer profiles vary by company and are used to create a smooth transition for flooring products that are different heights or do not line up evenly enough for a T Bar.

End Cap or Square Edge

End Caps or Square Edges:

End caps differ from reducers by having a more abrupt stopping point.  These products are made to transition hard surface floors into carpet, fireplaces, hearths, patio doors and door jambs.

 Stair Nosing or Stepnose

Stair Nosings or Stepnose:

These often vary in certain ways, but the general concept of a stairnose is to finish off the edge of a step on a landing or on each individual step.  There are many different profiles and nosings depending on your specific situation.

Wall Base

Wallbase or Wall Molding:

Many homeowners prefer their wallbase to match their hard surface flooring.  Wallbase can be custom stained or purchased to match your new flooring and can be installed by Custom Home Interiors.

Quarter Round

Quarter Round:

Quarter round molding follows along the perimeter of the wall to cover the expansion gap of a new hard surface floor covering.  Quarter round is available in prefinished laminate, unfinished woods like pine or oak, or in primed styles for easy painting.  Quarter round can also be added to existing wall molding for a more finished or refined look.

Base Shoe

Base Shoe:

Base shoe is very similar to quarter round but has a smaller, lower profile.  This is a great choice for people who prefer a more simple, modern look.

Mohawk Laminate Trims & Moldings: Reducer StripReducer Strip is used to create a smooth transition between two floors of different heights, as well as protect the planks exposed edge from damage caused by foot traffic.

Mohawk Laminate Trims & Moldings: T-moldingT-Molding is used to bridge two areas of flooring that are the exact same height. The T-Molding overlaps the exposed edges of the floor and is secured only to the sub floor, never to the flooring itself. Generally this trim is used as the transition piece between rooms, or as the expansion piece for areas that exceed 30 feet in length.

Mohawk Laminate Trims & Moldings: Universal edgeUniversal Edge is also called a Square Nosing and is used where the laminate flooring butts up to carpeting, or various vertical surfaces where the edge will be exposed, such as along a fireplace.

Mohawk Laminate Trims & Moldings: Mono-TrakMohawk Mono-Trak™ is used with some of the wood trim moldings to alleviate the need to nail the moldings directly to the subfloor. Mohawk’s Mono-Trak™ system makes installing the trim easy and will help ensure the proper expansion gaps are always maintained between the end of the floor planks and the trim pieces. Used with InstaForm profiles only.

These additional moldings are also available

Mohawk Laminate Trims & Moldings: Overlapping stair nosingOverlapping Stair Nosing is similar to a flush stair nosing except the nosing overlaps the exposed edge of the floor. The overlapping stair nosing is secured to the sub floor and not to the laminate floor so the floor is free to move. Never butt the nosing tightly to the laminate flooring.

Mohawk Laminate Trims & Moldings: Quarter roundQuarter Round gives the floor a finished look and protects the edges of the laminate flooring. Never secure the quarter round to the laminate flooring. Instead, the quarter round should always be attached to the vertical wall.

Mohawk Laminate Trims & Moldings: BullnoseBullnose, An alternative to quarter round are Bullnose moldings, which finish a tile floor by the wall much like a ceramic or stone floor would. Also available in select wood finishes, a bull nose is a much more grand way frame the floor, much like a base board would. Bullnose moldings should be attached to the wall, not the floor, to provide adequate expansion.
